How to revert Whatsapp material design version to old version?

telegram

It was a great news when Whatspp had introduced the last version which contains many changes in the user interface design. The latest version introduced on the official page of Whatsapp consist of the much talked Material Design. People those are downloading or updating Whatsapp from Play Store will not get this update because, its not yet rolled out via OTA.

What all changes are made in the new material design version of Whatsapp?

One important change we can see over the new update is the new Google’s Material Design. Old archaic design had been replaced with new Lollipop look. On the top of the app, we could see a dark green color.

Same as the old version, there are 3 tabs for Calls, Chats and Contacts. There are some changes for the attachment icon. Attachment icons are changed with Lollipop material icons. Contact, Location, Audio, Video, Gallery inside attachment had modified with new logo. Stepping to the profile page, we could see that there is no additional tab to open the display picture. Even though there are many new changes, the overall functionality remains the same.

Looking the initial outlooks, many people started downloading and installing the latest version. But the overall look was not much accepted by people all over the world. If we traverse through out the reviews in play Store, we could see that many people had down rated the application only because of its new material design. Here are some of the reviews made by Whatsapp users in Play Store against new material design.

I don’t like the new layout with circles around profile picture. I don’t found any option to uninstall latest update. If possible add an option to change the dark green color. Once updated, I will give 5 stars.

I love everything, looks except the green shade over the top pf the app. it’s a ugly color to me it should be look more like the icon shade of green.. Then it will be perfect

So If you are such a reviewer and want to downgrade or uninstall the latest version, please follow the below instructions. Note that, Once you had updated the latest version, you can’t downgrade directly through Play store. To do the same, follow the below steps.
Step1:- Uninstall the latest Whatsapp version.

NB:- This method is working as of today and verified myself. However Whatsapp team can force people to download the latest version. Once they had done such restrictions, the above method won’t work. I guarantee the above trick works till the latest update reaches the Google Play Store.
Update on 11-07-2015
This has been shut down by whatsapp. Now you can’t revert whatsapp to older version.
