One UI 9 Update List Is Growing: What It Means for Galaxy Owners

On September 16, 2026, Samsung started moving One UI 9, its Android 17 software, past its newest foldables and onto the Galaxy S26 family, adding in its announcement that “the update is expected to gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices.” Nearly four weeks on, the One UI 9 update list now reaches three generations of Galaxy S phones, a stack of foldables and one midrange A model.

That matters because Samsung still has not shared a schedule. If your phone is missing, it may simply be in the queue, and the Galaxy S24, Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 are already getting early, limited releases.

The One UI 9 update list so far

Samsung’s own One UI 9 rollout announcement confirms the first two waves: the software debuted on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8 and Z Flip8, then the S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra followed in mid-September. Going by a running tracker from 9to5Google, this is how the One UI 9 update list looked on October 10:

Galaxy modelsOne UI 9 status
Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, Z Flip8Launch devices, available
S26, S26+, S26 UltraAvailable since September 16
S25, S25+, S25 UltraReaching more owners
S25 FE, S25 EdgeLimited release
S24, S24+, S24 UltraLimited release
Z Fold7, Z Flip7, Z Flip7 FELimited release
Z TriFoldLimited release
Z Fold6, Z Flip6Limited release
A57Limited release

That adds up to 21 Galaxy models. A limited release generally means some regions or carriers have it while others wait, and Samsung’s fine print says availability depends on country, model and carrier, so two identical phones can get it weeks apart.

One UI 9 features families will notice first

Do not expect a brand-new look. One UI 9 refines the design Samsung introduced with One UI 7, so most changes live inside apps and settings.

  • Warranty and Care in Settings. Check warranty coverage for linked Galaxy devices, run a self-check, get a repair estimate, manage Samsung Care+ and book a service visit in one place.
  • My FanCam. Pick one person in a video you already shot and the phone keeps them centered, which is perfect for a school concert or a crowded soccer field. It needs a Samsung Account.
  • Security Brief and Privacy Alerts. Now Brief can warn you about malware, apps installed from unknown sources and permissions an app does not need. Privacy Alerts runs on the phone itself and points out things like an app asking for background access it has no use for.
  • Smarter Document Scan. Curved book pages and folded corners come out flatter, and finger removal improved.

What to do if your phone is missing from the One UI 9 update list

  1. Check by hand. Open Settings and look for a software update yourself; the notification can lag behind the release.
  2. Back up first. A full Android version jump is the right moment to save photos, messages and contacts somewhere other than the phone.
  3. Plug in and use Wi-Fi. A major update is a big download, and nobody wants a phone dying mid-install on a school night.
  4. Give it time. Your model may already be on the One UI 9 update list and simply not have reached your region or carrier yet.

What Samsung still has not confirmed

There is no official timetable behind the One UI 9 update list. Samsung has not given dates for Galaxy Tab models, for A-series phones beyond the A57, or for the Galaxy S23. The S23 and S23 FE do appear in the footnotes of Samsung’s One UI 9 announcement as supporting the new Privacy Alerts, which is encouraging for owners of those phones, but it is not a rollout promise.

Older phones eventually fall off these lists, as our piece on Pixel 6 updates ending this month shows. Until Samsung says more, the One UI 9 update list above is the best guide to who is next.

Common questions about the One UI 9 rollout

When is the One UI 9 update for S24 phones arriving?

It has already started in a limited release for the Galaxy S24, S24+ and S24 Ultra as of October 10. Samsung has not said when every S24 owner will see it.

Is there a One UI 9 update schedule?

No. Samsung has only said the update will reach other Galaxy devices gradually after the S26 series, and timing varies by region and carrier.

Will the Galaxy S23 get One UI 9?

Samsung has not confirmed it. The S23 and S23 FE are named in the footnotes of Samsung’s One UI 9 announcement as supporting the new Privacy Alerts, but no update date has been announced.

Should you install One UI 9 the day it shows up?

On a Galaxy S26, S25 or one of the newest foldables, yes: back up, connect to Wi-Fi and install it, then spend five minutes in the new Warranty and Care menu. S24 and Z Fold6 owners can let the limited release settle for a week or two before tapping install. Everyone else should keep an eye on the One UI 9 update list and remember that Samsung updates arrive on their own clock, not yours.
